Amanemu embraces the ancient Japanese bathing tradition of onsen, using nutrient-rich thermal springs to provide a contemplative and restorative retreat set among serene natural surroundings. Amanemu is set within Ise-Shima National Park on the Kii Peninsula in the southwestern region of Honshu. The resort overlooks Ago Bay, known as the Bay of Pearls – a blue expanse dotted with oyster rafts and islets. Ancient pilgrimage routes wind through forests. Some of Japan's most sacred shrines are within easy reach – including Geku Shrine, dedicated to the deity of clothing, food, and shelter, and Naiku Shrine, devoted to the goddess of the sun. Two large onsen bathing pavilions are complemented by a watsu pool, four treatment suites, a gym, and a yoga studio. Japanese cuisine at The Restaurant uses local produce, including fresh seafood and the renowned Matsusaka Wagyu beef.
Hot springs and ryokan rituals in Ise Shima National Park - On the shores of Ago Bay, Amanemu's rustic ryokan-inspired retreat is where Japan's ancient hospitality ritual finds its contemporary expression. Mineral-rich waters from a natural hot spring enable guests to embrace the tradition of onsen bathing while nourishing culinary form reflects a region famed for rare delicacies. Surrounded by Unesco pilgrim trails, sacred forests, and the pearl-rich Pacific's diving culture, here, rejuvenating stays and wellness experiences are imbued with a deeper cultural sensibility.
Japan - Nestled within the landscape with scenic views of the bay or gardens, the Suites abound in elegant simplicity. Each of the 24 Suites measures 99 square meters (1,065 square feet) and features a private onsen. Generous terraces provide maximum enjoyment of the natural surroundings in all seasons.
Restaurants are open to guests and non-residents. With pearl rafts and forests insight, the Restaurant focuses on Japanese food, while some Western cuisine is also served. Thanks to the varied microclimates of Mie Prefecture, local suppliers provide delicate fruits, an array of vegetables, and the renowned Matsusaka beef, and a variety of fresh seafood.
The hills above Ago Bay, Japan, are the serene setting of Amanemu, situated close to the holy Shinto site of Ise Grand Shrine. The UNESCO World Heritage-designated Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trails can also be visited. The region's natural beauty takes center stage as the season's change, offering opportunities to discover cultural treasures and witness the bay's pearl rafts.
