A secluded luxury hotel hidden on a private island in the Sulu Sea is the Amanpulo. The island of Pamalican that the resort is set on boasts fantastic sea views. Moreover, it is only an hour away from Manila by private plane.
Pamalican is part of the Quiniluban group, which makes up the northern portion of the Cuyo Islands. This makes it one of the nearly 1,800 islands that make up Palawan, the Philippines' largest province. It is a low-lying island set in a coral reef with turquoise waters perfect for scuba diving and snorkeling.
If you're looking for a castaway experience, you can find it on this secluded island. Amanpulo is the only resort on the island. Besides, it has few villas and casitas available, so you will never feel crowded.
While it is only an hour from Manila and many popular tourist destinations, it will feel a world away. Guests report feelings of bliss stranded in the middle of the sea at this world-class resort. Miles of white sand beaches surround the island, ringing an emerald interior with private villas and casitas scattered throughout the island.
Whether you want a secluded hillside abode or to wake up to the sea at a beach casita, you can find an ideal place to stay. There is over 6.5km of beach to explore. The clear waters at the Beach Club and Windsurf Hut allow diving at the reef just 300m from the beach. There you will see all the marine life teeming at this pristine reef.
Amanpulo's casitas offer genuinely luxurious accommodations with a traditional style in the Palawan Islands. All casitas offer beach access via footpaths, whether you pick a hillside room with gorgeous views of the turquoise waters or the calm serenity that comes with one secluded with the forest canopy. Besides, broad wooden decks with hammocks hidden in hidden nooks and pebble-washed walls all offer a touch of traditional Palawan living.
The 42 casitas (65-square-meter cottages) are modeled after the traditional Philippine dwelling called Bahay Kubo. The conventional details continue in the interior with accents like coconut-shell tables, rustic Palawan River, and knife baskets. Moreover, the king-size beds with rattan headboards give a rustic island feel. The living spaces also open to the deck via sliding glass doors to show off the beautiful views.
On the deck, divans are perfect for couples to relax and unwind after a long day in a tropical paradise. Also, nearly half of the space in the casitas is given over to a luxurious bathroom. What's more, when you step inside the Cebu-marble bathroom, you will find twin vanities, showers, and an elegant bathtub. There are also separate changing areas.
All casitas have Wi-fi and satellite TV with Bowers and Wilkins Airplay speakers for entertainment. If that isn't enough, feel free to request a DVD from the friendly staff. A golf cart is provided to navigate the unpaved trails that link the casitas with each other and the amenities for getting around.
If you want something more extensive and exclusive, 16 private villas are set on the island. These bedroom villas can accommodate larger groups and families. Moreover, they each have a pool, butler, and personal chef.
While on Amanpulo, there is no shortage of fantastic dining. Locally caught seafood and produce grown in the island's organic garden are the menu's stars, no matter where you choose to dine. These are served across venues like the Beach Club and Clubhouse Restaurant to private sales and beach barbecues.
The Restaurant at the end of one wing of the Clubhouse dangles out onto a terrace with Manamoc Island views, not far from the channel. You can get breakfast, lunch, and dinner here. The menu features traditional Filipino fare as well as international cuisine. Additionally, you can find Spanish cuisine at the Beach Club on the island's western side.
Head to the Eastern side of the island during the evening to find Thai fare at the Lagoon Club. Be sure you schedule your vacation when your favorite Restaurant is open since some are only open for a season. There are wood-fired pizzas and more at the Picnic Grove for a casual lunch on the beach. However, if you'd prefer private dining, arrange for a barbecue on the beach or personal dining day and night. Besides, if you prefer something extra special, visit the floating Kawayan bar to enjoy drinks, snacks, and even a picnic at sea.
Those looking for a bar on the island can find one at the Clubhouse, where the marble-topped bar extends to a terrace. Then, follow a garden walkway from the pool to reach the Beach Club. Or, head to the sea deck to find a collection of mattresses with matching pillows to relax on. You can also find lounge chairs and shade umbrellas on the beach.
Next to the Beach Club, the Seasports hut has equipment rentals and an information hub. You can enquire about boat charters, snorkeling and scuba diving spots, water sports lessons, and sea conditions there. Other activities include walks along the island, cruises to other islands, and more.
If you're looking for relaxation, Amanpulo is one of the best hotels. In 2016, the resort won the Philippines' best resort spa award. The extensive Aman Spa is on a hillside above the trees, offering one of the best views of the turquoise waters and the surrounding reef. Designed to give a feeling of calm serenity, each pavilion made from native wood connects.
Inside, you'll find seashell-lined ceilings. You'll find plenty of relaxation areas to unwind in outdoors. If you're looking to get away and forget the hustle and bustle, Amanpulo is a step above. Enjoy yourself in a tropical paradise from service to the food to the beautiful island.
