Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons

Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons is in a quiet area seven miles southeast of Oxford, in the Cotswolds countryside, United Kingdom. The luxury hotel is in the village of Great Milton in Oxfordshire. It is next to the Parish Church of St. Mary. Le Manoir is surrounded by lawns, flower beds, and orchards, making it look like it's in a dream.

Besides, there are vegetable and herb gardens that bring ultra-fresh produce to the kitchen that helps keep the kitchen at the cutting edge of taste. Monks who lived on the site in the 16th century first built an English water garden fed by natural springs. The ponds were home to a wide range of water plants and animals in the past.

Overview

You'll find beautiful walks close by. In less than an hour, people can drive to Blenheim Palace, Waddesdon Manor, Oxford University, and London. Plus, it takes less than an hour to get to the center of London.

Moreover, the facilities at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat Saisons are Chef Raymond Blanc's Michelin 2 Star restaurant, the Hotel's heart. In addition to The Restaurant, the Belmond Hotel has a cooking school. The school has classes for both advanced and novice cooks. The Hotel also has a lot of lands. Plus, there are a lot of peaceful walks and even a Japanese garden with a tea house for all seasons. Bicycles are also available for people who want to go outside the hotel grounds.

Location

Many people don't know that it's right next to the M40. There are rolling hills, a green village, and honey-colored homes in the town of Great Milton, which is near the Hotel. Additionally, the Haddenham & Thame Parkway train station is about 45 minutes from London Marylebone. Moreover, there is a 15-minute taxi ride to the city center from here.

Style and Character

This is where English country houses meet French style. First, there is the typical British thing, like manicured lawns, croquet games, and ponds from the 15th century, that are still there today. The fanciful: Japanese ornamental gardens, mushroom valley, rooms that are very detailed and unique (one, Jade, is based on a paddy field that Raymond Blanc found inspiring). Plus, of course, there's the restaurant that takes center stage. Additionally, there are kitchen gardens that look like they belong in a magazine.

Service and Facilities

There is the Raymond Blanc Cookery School. This is where expert and friendly chefs teach everything from dinner party master classes to cooking lessons for kids. Plus, there's the new gardening school in the Botanic Glasshouse on the grounds. You can also get in-room massages and play croquet and boules outside at the Belmond Le Manoir for a fee.

Additionally, the Hotel has bikes, DVDs and video games, and toy boxes for kids in each room. You'll find all of these things at the Le Manoir: a helipad, cocktail bar, event spaces, wedding hosting, concierge service, free parking, and more. Furthermore, Wi-Fi is accessible all over the Hotel.

Rooms and Suites

The 32 rooms and suites at Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons are all different. They range from modern to traditional. Each one is very well-equipped, and many have views of the beautiful grounds. Moreover, each of the 32 rooms, designed by Emily Todhunter, is based on Michelin-starred chef Raymond Blanc's travels worldwide.

Everyone who stays at these places receives treatment like a king or queen. They all come with sugared almonds, a bottle of Madeira, and various fruits. Besides, some rooms are more elaborately themed than others. Therefore, it's essential to check which one you're going to book before you go. Blanc de Blanc is 100% white. Jade is like an Asian bedroom.

On the other hand, many have a more traditional French feel to them, and the Garden Suites all have their garden. These have wood-burning stoves or fireplaces, four-poster beds, and sofas or daybeds. In some of the suites, there are sitting areas. Additionally, some have private terraces, which lead to the Hotel's garden.

Moreover, the marble-clad bathrooms are enormous and very stylish. All of them come with bathrobes, slippers, and make-up mirrors so that you can get ready quickly. Some of them even have freestanding Victorian tubs, jetted tubs, or scented steam rooms in them.

Additionally, all rooms and suites have English breakfast, climate control, an LCD widescreen TV, and free wireless high-speed Internet: a CD player, a personal safe, and an iPod dock. There are also fresh-cut flowers and a fruit plate. Furthermore, some rooms and suites also come with their private patio or terrace.

Food and Drink

For more than 30 years, this has been the only British restaurant with two Michelin stars for its food. There is a seven-course tasting menu in the dining room. These include amusing bouches and petit fours and seasonal, organic ingredients from the Hotel's kitchen garden.

The garden has 90 kinds of vegetables and 70 kinds of herbs. Breakfast is delicate and delicious: a buffet of small cakes and a menu of small hot dishes. There is a 1930s-style bar where cocktails are made very well. Plus, the wine cellar has more than 1000 different wines from France.

Family-Friendly

No surprise there. The restaurant has an unbeatable kids' menu with illustrations of Asterix characters. In the kitchen, kids can choose their ice cream. Staff leaves thoughtful quiz books and stuffed animals in chef's whites as gifts in the bedrooms of families with kids. At the cooking school, La Petite Ecole welcomes kids who want to be chefs when they're older. At the Raymond Blanc gardening school, kids can also learn about gardening from Henri Le Worm.

Takeaway

Housed in Raymond Blanc's manor house in Oxfordshire, this Hotel is a shrine to fine food. Riotously luxurious rooms draw inspiration from Raymond Blanc's dreams, the menu reflects his quest for perfection, and the grounds are a foodie's dream come to life. It was Raymond Blanc OBE's 70th birthday and 35 years as the owner of two Michelin stars back in November 2019.
