The Hotel Bernini Palace, a luxury 5-star hotel in Florence, is located in a 15th-century palace located in the city center, behind Piazza della Signoria and the Uffizi Gallery. It is only six minutes from Via Tornabuoni, the most famous street for shopping, and about an hour's drive, you can reach the outlets of great Italian brands such as Prada and Gucci. La Chiostrina, the Hotel Restaurant, offers a menu of exquisite regional and international dishes. Furthermore, nearby are the most exclusive restaurants in the city, such as Enoteca Pinchiorri, Ora d'Aria, and a selection of typical Florentine trattorias.
The History - Overlooking Palazzo Vecchio, a few steps from the banks of the Arno, it was the protagonist of the events that transformed Florence, from 1865 to 1870, into the capital of the Kingdom of Italy. Frequented by parliamentarians, it was at the center of national political intertwining: an era remembered by the frescoed roundels that embellish the current Breakfast Room.
The Palace - Located in the heart of the oldest Florence, just outside the walls of the first circle of the Roman city and the medieval circle: in the so-called Borgo dei Greci, squeezed between Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza Santa Croce, where even just walking you can "breathe" the history of the city. A neighborhood linked to the Florentine family of the same name mentioned by Cacciaguida in Canto XVI of Dante's Paradise. Here stands the nineteenth-century building that today houses the Hotel Bernini Palace.
The oldest news about the building dates back to the fourteenth century when the famous Della Pera family owned the building, ancestors of the historic Peruzzi family, who took over from the Greeks who had fallen into ruin very powerful financiers with colossal interests throughout Europe. From the side towards via dei Leoni / Piazza della Signoria, on the wall of the hotel, a marble slab recalls the fortunes of the still rich and powerful family at the time of Dante: "In the small circle one entered through a door that was named after those of the pear" (Paradiso, Canto XVI). On the front of via dei Leoni, it is still possible to identify the succession of lowered arches on the first floor of the ancient fifteenth-century building.
The Rooms & Suites - All the hotel rooms are spacious, with parquet and sumptuously furnished with magnificent antiques with particular attention to detail, equipped with modern comforts and free wi-fi. Each room is embellished with linen sheets, hypoallergenic duvets, and light duvet covers in pure cotton satin. The types are Classic, Superior, Deluxe, Junior Suite, and Suite.
Dining - From a drink at the Lounge Bar, in a charming setting in which traditional Tuscan furniture blends harmoniously with contemporary design, to a dinner in the renowned La Chiostrina Restaurant, inside a historic portico dating back to the 1500s that has recently been restored. A unique restaurant in the center of Florence. The La Chiostrina Restaurant is located on the hotel's ground floor, near the hall, inside a recently restored historic portico from the 1500s. The light that enters from the inner courtyard, its colors, and its atmosphere make it a unique dining place in the city center. Excellent for dinners, business meetings, light lunches and ideal for tasting Tuscan and international gastronomic specialties. Its versatility also makes it a restaurant that offers an always innovative menu, which is updated monthly.
The Lounge Bar - This is an exclusive meeting place where people can savor tasty appetizers, creative cocktails, and fine wines and enjoy moments of relaxation in a warm and welcoming atmosphere that recalls the luxury of a private lounge. A charming environment where traditional Tuscan furniture blends harmoniously with contemporary design.
The Parliament Room - A rich buffet breakfast is served, in the historic Parliament Room, characterized by a splendid frescoed ceiling, once a meeting place for the Members of Parliament and the Senators of the Kingdom of Italy. The rich buffet offers a vast assortment of artisan, baked, organic and natural products and is also open to external guests.
Among the treasures of the Hotel Bernini Palace is the large frescoed room on the first floor with the portraits of the protagonists of the Risorgimento. It used to be the Parliament's Buvette, and today it is the hotel's prestigious Breakfast Room. Along the walls you can admire the faces of the great personalities of the time: Garibaldi in the center, surrounded by many Tuscans, such as Nero Corsini, last minister of the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Giuseppe Montanelli and Cosimo Ridolfi, Vincenzo Salvagnoli and Manfredo Fanti, but also by the Piedmontese, Cavour and Brofferio, Balbo and Gioberti, Lamarmora and Valerio, with Giuseppe La Farina.Daniele Manin also appears, in a tribute to the protagonist of the Republic of San Marco in 1849, while Giuseppe Mazzini is absent, too faithful to republican ideals to swear allegiance to King and therefore be able to set foot in Parliament. Also, on the ground floor, during the restoration work at the end of the eighties, a sixteenth-century loggia was brought to light, which previously was almost completely hidden from view. Another discovery, a series of niches decorated with female heads dressed up with curious hats, in memory of an ancient exhibition set up in the hotel lobby in the early 1900s.
