The Story

Borgo Santandrea is the realization of the passion project of two Italian families with generations of hospitality experience. They radically transformed an existing 1960s hotel. An ambitious yet respectful restoration was carried out over almost four years to create a unique environment where Mid-Century design meets Mediterranean style. The owners' ultimate goal was to create an atmosphere where guests feel they are not staying in a hotel but rather in an iconic Italian villa by the Mediterranean.

Italian craftsmanship and mid-century design furniture. The owners' private collection of mid-century design pieces is complemented by the finest selection of Italian furniture, lighting, and fabrics. In many cases, these have been custom-made for Borgo Santandrea.

The gardens have been designed to create harmony with the native coastal landscapes, respecting the fascinating Amalfi Coast horticultural history of breath-taking terraces, allowing guests to discover the native plant species of the region.

A Vertical Heaven

Accessibility played a critical role in the whole project. The stunning 90m vertical height of Borgo Santandrea provides exceptional views from every point of the resort. This required equally excellent infrastructure that starts with eight elevators, extending from the terrace at the top of the hotel to the private beach at the base of the cliff, ensuring all guests can enjoy every feature of Borgo Santandrea and effortlessly access almost every corner of this sheer heaven.

The restoration was undertaken with an essential focus on integrating the most sustainable practices. They have incorporated some of the finest energy-saving technologies, adopted state-of-the-art waste management systems, invested in electric vehicles, and implemented many plastic reduction initiatives. A lot has also been done to ensure that the gastronomic offerings are primarily based on nearby growers and food providers. Being fully aware that it is just the beginning of the sustainability journey and focusing on being very passionate about and are fully committed to ongoing improvements.

Myth, Nature, and History

Amalfi has always had a hold on those who come to know it. Legend has it that Hercules loved a nymph named Amalfi. The colorful Romanesque façade of the Cathedral dominates the main square. Perched at the top of a magnificent flight of stairs, it has become quite the icon of the Amalfi coast, along with the stunning Cloister of Paradise, which displays the influence of the Arabs on Amalfi and its stones through its pointed arches and white columns.
