Hotel Villa Cipriani

Hotel Villa Cipriani is just a few steps from the heart of Asolo's walled town, with its marked characteristic of a noble country residence.

Hotel Villa Cipriani is the ideal destination for a holiday of tranquility and well-being. The guests will find the perfect combination of elegance, hospitality, and attention to detail in a timeless atmosphere. The heart of Villa Cipriani is its famous garden that changes colors every season: invaded by tulips in April, a cascade of fragrant roses in May, and gradually alternating scents, unforgettable that of the old Olea fragrances, and colors as the months go by.

Do not forget the imposing persimmon tree in front of the terrace, which characterizes the garden in the winter months.

The Villa has always been a destination for illustrious guests, to name a few: the Queen Mother of England, Prince Philip of Edinburgh, Juliana of Holland, Albert of Monaco; actors such as Marcello Mastroianni, Vittorio de Sica, Orson Welles, Peter O'Toole, Catherine Deneuve, Kim Basinger, Sharon Stone. Names leaked through the mesh of an iron curtain of confidentiality, the hotel's prerogative to protect a peaceful weekend, a romantic interlude, or a stay dedicated to gastronomy.

The History

Built-in the Palladian era, the Villa underwent significant improvements in the 18th century. In 1889 the English poet Robert Browning bought the property. Under his guidance, the Villa acquired its noble Tuscan appearance, which blends perfectly with Asolo's gentle hills. It was sold in 1902 to a wealthy Venetian family, who used it for many years as a holiday home and was subsequently rented and transformed into an inn.

In 1962 the Villa was acquired by Rupert Guinness, the second Earl of Iveagh - of the famous Irish brewing family - well-known businessman, politician, philanthropist, a generous supporter of scientific research, chancellor of the University of Dublin, and then landowner also in Asolo. Lord Iveagh, in the 60s, commissioned Giuseppe Cipriani - founder of Harry's Bar in Venice, inventor of the Bellini cocktail and Carpaccio - to make it a charming hotel: Villa Cipriani.

Thus the picturesque inn was transformed into the small country jewel that guests enjoy today. In 1974 Villa Cipriani became part of the Sheraton group's Ciga Hotels chain in 1995.

Rooms & Suites

The 5-star hotel in Asolo, an enchanting location in the Veneto region, has 27 rooms, ideal for a holiday dedicated to wellness and relaxation. At Villa Cipriani, each room is different from the other. The Terrace Suites have a splendid furnished terrace overlooking the valley and Monte Grappa.

The Garden Suite dominates the renowned garden, the Suite Duse - located on the top floor of the "Garden House" - offers a boundless panorama from the large windows, others have an enchanting panoramic view of the park, and still others a curious glimpse of the streets of the village.

Villa Cipriani Restaurant

The cuisine combines regional and Mediterranean specialties and traditional Cipriani dishes, such as beef carpaccio, spring risotto, creamed cod, and pilau rice with curry scampi. The restaurant menu in Asolo follows the seasons. The dishes vary according to the local market's availability of raw materials: focused on Treviso radicchio in autumn, in spring on spontaneous herbs such as bruscandoli or nettle sprouts.

And then the white asparagus from Bassano, the fresh and sweet peas of Borso del Grappa, the Chiodini or porcini from Montello. The pastry chef prepares desserts daily and takes care of the cakes for breakfast, biscuits, coffee, fresh pasta, bread, ice cream, and sorbets.

Rosemary Bistro - Located in the garden overlooking the swimming pool with an enchanting view of the valley, the Bistrot Rosmarino offers light and summer dishes, with raw materials carefully selected by the best producers in the area. Club sandwiches, mini hamburgers, salads, first courses, pizzas, fresh fruit, and vegetable extracts. And in the evening aperitifs at sunset: the Hundred Horizons of Asolo will open in front of you.

The American Bar - Of Villa Cipriani is the ideal place for a drink, thanks to a timeless aura thanks to the furnishings chosen by Giuseppe Cipriani in the 60s, founder of the famous Harry's Bar in Venice. The bartenders will prepare the famous Bellini, made with freshly blended white peach and prosecco, classic cocktails, traditional cocktails such as Tom Collins or Rob Roy, and all the long drinks you require.

Leisure

Asolo is strategically positioned to visit countless places of historical and artistic interest and is splendidly situated on a hill, with one of the most beautiful panoramas in the Veneto. Villa Cipriani is the perfect starting point to discover Veneto in all its facets: excursions to the cities of art, exciting itineraries to discover architectural masterpieces, visits, and tastings in the Prosecco cellars.

The Gipsoteca and the Antonio Canova Temple in Possagno or Bassano del Grappa are a few kilometers away from the beautiful Palladian bridge. A little further away is Marostica with its famous Piazza degli Scacchi, where a chess game with figures is played every two years. Of great architectural interest is the Brion Tomb built by Carlo Scarpa in S. Vito d'Altivole.

One hour from Vicenza and Padua and a little more from the incomparable Venice, half an hour from Treviso, in the surroundings, you can visit some of the most famous villas of Andrea Palladio, including Villa Barbaro in Maser or Villa Emo in Fanzolo.

Immersed in the Asolo DOCG prosecco lands and neighbors of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano Valdobbiadene - UNESCO heritage since 2019 - the area offers a precious combination of cultural and food and wine visits.

Art & Culture

Asolo always remained and is still a place particularly appreciated and dear to artists and culture men. Giosuè Carducci called it "the city of a hundred horizons." This town's beauty and history have meant that it was awarded Italy's most beautiful village. Eleonora Duse stayed several times in Asolo and is buried here - by her own will - in the small cemetery of Sant'Anna. Gabriele D'Annunzio, Arturo Toscanini, and many other illustrious names attended it, and here, among others, Robert Browning, Francesco Malipiero, and Freya Stark lived. Various cultural events take place here all year round.

In spring, the International Festival of Classical Music "Malipiero Concerti," in June, the Asolo Art Film Festival, in September, the International Chamber Music Festival "Incontri Asolani" and the Traveller's Festival, a festival of cultural encounters spread all over the village with the Segafredo Zanetti Prize A BOOK A FILM, the first national prize dedicated to fiction for cinema. In June, the "Palio di Asolo and 100 Orizzonti" takes place, a competition in which the hamlets of Asolo challenge each other by pulling Roman chariots along an uphill path of about 1,800 meters.

The event was born in 1993 to commemorate the arrival of Queen Caterina Cornaro in Asolo. Above the chariot, a girl in historical clothes represents the queen, who, in 1489, triumphantly entered Asolo to take possession of her new kingdom. Every Sunday of the month, there is a historic and renowned antique market.
