The Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden in Germany is a hideaway with breathtaking views of the Bavarian Alps. Although it sits in an Alpine, what awaits visitors is the vast arc of a majestic 5-star luxury hotel without parallel in the region. Moreover, it matches the splendor and grandeur of the mountains and deep pine forests surrounding it.
This beautiful area in the Bavarian Alps was shunned after World War 2 because of its previous associations with the Nazi command. However, this was swept away by the Intercontinental Hotel opening in 2005, reviving local and international tourism.
Although this dark past lingers, the modern hotel brings new energy to the area. In 2015, it was taken over by the Kempinski group. Besides, Kempinski management boasts 120 years of ownership of some of Europe's finest luxury hotels, with Berchtesgaden one of the more recent ones.
The new management developed a character style with its natural surroundings in the Bavarian mountains.
Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden sits at an altitude of 1000 meters at Obersalzberg. This is 400 meters above Berchtesgaden village from where it got its name. The region is also famous as one with outstanding natural beauty, offering visitors peace and serenity. Additionally, there are breathtaking mountain views, dense woodlands, and crisp Alpine air.
The region is also famous for its natural lakes, notably the crystalline beauty of Konigssee (King's Lake) in the Berchtesgaden National Park. Moreover, although secluded high up in the Alps, the hotel is only half an hour from Salzburg. It also connects easily to Munich or Hamburg.
There is also a connection via the Deutsche Bank railway. Besides traveling by car, the roads are good, and the resort has a large car park and garage facilities.
Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden is undoubtedly a luxury hotel. It strives to offer visitors the warmth and welcome of Bavarian hospitality. Guests are also met by efficient and friendly staff wearing traditional Bavarian costumes. You will get a welcome drink in the impressive yet, relaxing reception area. Also, the hotel's concept rests on using local resources to connect guests to the natural surroundings.
Natural wood and stone make the décor of the lobby and lounges. Additionally, locally sourced products supply the dining rooms and bar. The rooms and suites are also luxurious to maximize the enjoyment of the Alpine setting.
The décorof the 138 rooms and suites radiates the same warmth as the welcome to this hideaway hotel. The rooms are clean, and modern with subtle colors, delicate fabrics, wi-fi, and supreme comfort. The bedding is hypo-allergenic and anti-bacterial, featuring luxury bathrooms with deep tubs and walk-in showers.
In-room entertainment and coffee-making extras are also included as luxury room amenities. The Superior rooms overlook the garden, while the Deluxe offers views over the Berchtesgaden valley and the encircling majestic mountains.
Mountain View rooms are just that -- having fabulous uninterrupted views towards the Untersberg massif and Kneifelspitze. The Terrace rooms also add an extra element to the enjoyment.
Guests staying in these apartment-style suites benefit from being in a private Alpine retreat. Each one has ample space and glorious views. Furthermore, there are extra features of fireplaces and huge super-comfortable beds.
The art deco two-level Maisonette suite boasts a rooftop terrace for the most pleasing outlook over the mountains, and the Panorama is exceptionally spacious and luxurious.
For ultimate Alpine luxury, the impressive presidential suite is family-sized, with aspects to the east, south, and west of stunning scenery. Every detail of the décor demonstrates quality, including a separate living room and a white marble bathroom.
Along with regular concierge services, the Activity Concierge Team specializes in helping guests enjoy all the beautiful alpine surroundings. The team is made up of locals with exceptional knowledge of the area. They advise, organize, or accompany guests in their leisure activities.
The resort looks most romantic in the winter snow when visitors can walk or hike through snow-dusted pine forests. In addition, the team arranges special hiking tours, snowshoeing events, and even a torchlight hike.
Skiing is also possible, but the skiing area is a golf course in summer. Other warm-weather pursuits include cycling and testing out mountain bike trails.
Visitors who only enjoy walking the Berchtesgaden National Park have plenty of easy paths with the delightful sound of birds or cowbells to disturb the quiet.
Many hiking trails are there for those who enjoy a challenge. You can also arrange museum trips. Moreover, talks, entertainments, and shopping trips to Salzburg are other popular events all year round.
The Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden is a wellness hotel offering the most luxurious facilities and treatments. The spa benefits from an indoor pool and an outdoor pool, heated for use even in chilly Alpine air. Guests can also enjoy an herbal sauna, steam room, and solarium. They can also relax with a natural salt stone or Alpine herb massage.
The hotel provides an astonishing array of hearty buffet-style breakfast dishes to start a day of Alpine activities. Following the hotel's philosophy, most of the produce is locally sourced. These include sausages, cheeses, smoked fish, and locally baked artisan bread. There are also cereals, fruits, yogurts, and farm eggs on the menu.
The Kaminbar and lounge are restful places to enjoy light meals and delicious daily snacks. Kaminbar also has a range of superb whisky and alcoholic drinks. Additionally, the lounge serves delicious sandwiches, homemade cakes, and pastries for coffee or tea time.
The Johann Grill, named after a renowned local mountaineer, is a popular restaurant serving excellent meals using the choicest local seasonings and produce. It has a fresh open-style décor with a spectacular backdrop of the Bavarian Alps.
Tasting and sharing menus are part of the Kempinski concept. These principles are also innovatively and brilliantly expressed in the smart modern Michelin-starred Gourmet Restaurant PUR. Here is classic European Bavarian-style fine dining with immaculate service in a relaxed and restful atmosphere.
The Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden offers conference facilities, too, making it a popular place for business meetings. Alpine is enjoyable, from the quiet walks, exhilarating skiing, mountain biking, and mountaineering from the most beautiful mountain retreat. Stay at the Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden!
