Kempinski Palace Engelberg is a palace-grand hotel dating from 1904. The hotel sits majestically at the foot of Titlis Mountain amid spectacular Alpine scenery. Recently added to the Kempinski portfolio of global luxury accommodations, this heritage-listed building has been extended, redesigned, and modernized. It is now Engelberg's first (and only) international five-star hotel.
Kempinski Palace Engelberg is in the central part of this mountain village, famous for its monastery and summer and winter snow-capped holiday destination. At 1000 meters above sea level, Engelberg is also popular with visitors. Moreover, it has good connections to Lucerne and Zurich through the Zentralbahn Railway system.
Zurich International Airport (ZRH) is a hub for many airlines in Switzerland. To reach Engleberg by train is about an hour and forty minutes, but guests arrive opposite the hotel. Most major cities are easily accessible by car, or a heliport and cable car are other options. The Swiss Alps are also easily accessible. Besides, the hotel also offers plenty of free parking and an electric car charging station.
The original hotel was in a grand style, and the exterior of the modern design blends the beautiful Belle Epoque architecture with a modern wing. Interiors have contemporary styling. However, they remain on a luxurious grand scale creating sublime comfort for every guest.
Moreover, the staff is top-class and in line with the standards of the Kempinski brand. The front desk is open 24 hours, and room service is always available. Wi-Fi is also accessible throughout the public rooms and guest bedrooms.
The Kempinski Palace, Engelberg features include a rooftop spa with a whirlpool. There is also a steam bath, a rooftop infinity pool, and a fitness gym. There is also an upscale restaurant, bar, cigar lounge, a winter garden for tea, coffee, and pastries, conference and business facilities, and wedding venues. Moreover, state-of-the-art technical equipment, fine catering, and planning backup for these hotel amenities exist. A shuttle service to the ski lift is available for hotel guests.
The historic Kursaal Engelberg is a beautiful event space that marks the transition from the old hotel to the new annex. It has a unique status in the village and belongs to the people of Engelberg under the Kursaal Management team in association with the hotel.
The hotel has excellent views of Engelberg Titlis Mountain. It is also convenient for guests to enjoy skiing, biking, and walking opportunities. Kempinski Engelberg also provides an exceptional concierge service to assist guests with these and other sporting activities.
Visitors can take the gondola lift to the mountain summit. They can also choose the terrifying but exhilarating cliff walk across the suspension bridge. A glacial park, cave, and Trubsee glacial lake are nearby.
Snowboarding and sledding are other seasonal activities, and experienced climbers can find excellent regional opportunities. Moreover, Engelberg Abbey, a Benedictine monastery founded in 1120 AD, is the village's most famous and visited site.
There are 129 rooms and suites at Kempinski Engelberg. Moreover, the décor is contemporary, with classic references in the new building, with the grand old building retaining the elegance of the historical style. Soft color tones of aqua, biscuit, and cream create a soothing, relaxing mood.
Furthermore, all rooms feature a flat-screen TV, iPod docking station, free Wi-Fi, and Nespresso coffee maker and kettle. There is also a work desk, hardwood/parquet flooring, a mini-bar, soundproofing, and mountain views. Besides, beds are large, deep, and comfortable, with soft duvets and a pillow menu.
Bathrooms are also large and lavish, with walk-in showers and luxury bath toiletries. Moreover, the Premier Room has stunning views of the beautiful mountains from an expansive balcony and panoramic windows. The deluxe rooms are also fully accessible, and lifts with wheelchair access are provided.
These have more space and separate bedrooms and living rooms. Most have balconies with fine views over the village and beautiful mountains. There are even sink-in carpets and additional in-room amenities.
The bathrooms have separate soaking baths and walk-in showers, and deluxe skincare products. Furthermore, the Titlis Suite is on the top floor with panoramic views. It also has double windows, allowing rooms to radiate natural light.
The Cattani Restaurant offers upscale menus of classic Swiss cuisine by head chef Michelle Muller. Dishes are created around the brand's philosophy of using farm-to-table local seasonal produce and specialties that include innovative vegetarian options.
The restaurant offers a full breakfast menu, lunch, and evening meals which guests can take on the terrace in fine weather. Additionally, the Palace Bar is an elegant and cozy corner of the old historic building. Here, a welcoming fire is lit in the winter months. This is a popular meeting place for guests and locals at the end of the day. You can also enjoy conversations between sips of fine wine and sparkling cocktails.
With the ambiance of gentlemen's clubs of former times, the Cigar Lounge serves wine and cocktails. There is also a superb range of spirits, cigars, and cigarillos. Cognac and wine-colored leather seating also complement the theme.
The Wintergarden is a lovely space with expansive windows, natural light, and gorgeous snowy mountain views. This is where you can have tea, coffee, and exquisite pastries.
The Kempinski Spa is on the hotel's top floor, utilizing the magnificent mountain scenery to accompany various therapies. This facility has an infinity pool and relaxation lounge with an Alpine scene. Turkish baths, saunas, a steam room, and an ice fountain also exist. Moreover, the fitness center offers state-of-the-art TechnoGym exercise equipment and is open for hotel guests 24/7.
Kurpark is a recreational area for all the families close to the hotel. Children have their own Kids' Pool and Kids' Club with an indoor play area. Additionally, meal portions and extra beds in guest rooms encourage young visitors.
Climbing routes in Engelberg are suitable for every level of ability, even beginners and experienced children accompanied by an adult. Therefore, children in this village have many opportunities to develop outdoor activity skills. Moreover, this is a family-friendly hotel and welcomes pets too by arrangement (fee applies).
This is the sort of hotel and snow-capped mountain scenery that graces many postcards. Kempinski Palace Engelberg is attractive and provides top-class accommodation and service.
