The Kempinski St. Moritz Grand Hotel des Bains is a glamorous palatial 5-star hotel in the Swiss Alpine of St Moritz Bad and part of the Kempinski hotels. Initially built in 1864, when the town was famed for health-giving mineral springs, it is now one of the Kempinski group of European luxury hotels.
St. Moritz lies on a high Alpine region overlooking the beautiful Engadin valley and Lake St Moritz. Moreover, you can easily reach it by car or train in a triangle between Milan, Munich, and Zurich. Formerly renowned as a spa town, St. Moritz brought global visitors and royal families to take the Mauritius spring's therapeutic iron-rich waters.
From the late 1860s, its idyllic location became the birthplace of modern Alpine tourism. Several hotels opened to accommodate walkers, hikers, and skiers. Besides, the Grand was designed to be the most elegant and luxurious hotel in the area, benefitting from its proximity to the spa waters.
Today it is popular with skiers who find the hotel is within easy reach of the cable car, taking them to the snowy pistes at Corviglia and Corvatsch.
Kempinski St. Moritz went through renovations over the years. But, in the Kempinski management group's tradition, the hotel retains the original building's refined elegance and splendor blended with supreme modern comforts.
Pastel color tones and sky-blue shutters soften the magnificent façade, making the effect both grand and welcoming. The staff also strives to be efficient but warm and hospitable too.
The entrance hall has been carefully restored based on old sketches and records of the earlier style. What's more, many of the inherited etchings and paintings decorate the walls throughout the hotel.
The hotel décor combines classic style, antique pieces, and bright, comfortable modern seating. The lobby is a perfect example of this, with pillars, high decorated ceiling, and deeply upholstered ruby plush sofas and chairs. This is where you enjoy high tea with delicious Swiss pastries or a club sandwich served anytime.
The mellow-toned bar offers exceptional cocktails and other drinks, a bar menu, and background music. Chilled champagne any time.
By contrast, the room's décor is contemporary, the styling chic but supremely comfortable.
Kempinski St. Moritz has 184 comfortable rooms and suites designed to be spacious and relaxing with soothing cream and soft brown tones. Classic single, Deluxe Grand and Resort features fine Alpine views, every modern amenity, and luxury bathrooms with deep tubs.
Some have connecting doors. Besides, you can put extra beds in the larger rooms for children to stay with the family. The superior room has exceptional views of the mountains and cosseting furnishings.
Junior, Deluxe, Tower, and Presidential. The suites are for families or3or more guests with additional add-on rooms and superior in-room facilities. All have beautiful chocolate brown and cream color schemes, golden wood furniture, fine views, and some with balconies.
The family suite combines the junior and a single room with connecting doors. Moreover, the Presidential is the height of luxury with three double bedrooms on two levels with a kitchenette and dining area. Besides, there is an elegant fireplace, an opulent bathroom, and a shower.
Private Butler service is available for this suite, while there is 24-hour room service in all accommodations.
These are gorgeous Alpine chalets for 1-5 occupants. They connect to the hotel and benefit from the same services and facilities. Some choose contemporary or Alpine décor with balconies and panoramic mountain views.
You can have in-room dining with a private chef. Besides, the hotel has a special menu on occasion or room service.
The Kempinski St. Moritz culinary standards and philosophy of creating innovative menus using the finest locally sourced seasonal produce are evident at the Grand Hotel des Bains.
The award-winning fine dining gourmet restaurant, Ca D'Oro, boasts a Michelin star for its inspired Mediterranean menu in an elegant classic dining room: with high ceilings, chandeliers, dress code, and impeccable service.
The beautiful restaurant Les Saisons offers a more informal dining style with the same high cuisine standards. The magnificent buffet breakfast, regional dishes, and quality steaks are featured here.
A menu of international and Indian-inspired dishes is also in Les Saisons. Also, Enoteca restaurant offers a further alternative to serving traditional food with an inspired modern touch in a carefully restored Victorian setting. Quality in-room dining and snacks at the lobby bar are also available to guests.
This Alpine spa is luxurious, with a huge indoor pool and treatment rooms set beautifully in a new sympathetically-styled 2,800 sqm hotel extension.
Treatments using the finest products from the mineral-rich springs and Alpine setting include Hydrafacial and Kneipp hot/cold water baths. The spa also has several saunas, a swimming pool, steam baths, a ladies-only treatment area, and gym facilities for all guests.
St Moritz is a cosmopolitan center for excellent skiing opportunities. The Grand is ideally situated to enjoy this sport with its easy connections to the main ski slopes and a hotel ski school.
Walkers, hikers, and bikers can explore hiking trails in magnificent mountain and Lakeland scenery. Moreover, access to full tennis and squash facilities is nearby. A sports shop is also provided in the hotel for all sporting equipment and clothing, supported by professional advice on choices.
This is a family-friendly hotel where children are catered to as well as adults. 'Kid's Club' provides entertainment and activities for toddler-aged children, and babysitting services can be booked. Additional beds for children are supplied in the guest suites if required.
These include a Swiss dental clinic, a smoker's lounge, a library, and a casino. The Grand also has excellent facilities for weddings, events, and conferences. Complete concierge services are also provided.
