Eugenie's History Begins in 1861

When Empress Eugenie, wife of Napoleon III, grants her sponsorship to this tiny spa resort on the borders of the Landes and Béarn. A few years before, she had stayed there, making a stop on the road that led her to her summer resort in Biarritz. After a somewhat sluggish first half of the 20th century, Eugénie's adventure restarted in 1961, when, fallen under the spell of the hundred-year-old trees of the Park, Adrien Barthélémy, Christine Guérard's father, bought the spa area and the adjoining hotels. The Estate is expanding, thanks to the restoration of a former 18th-century convent in 1989. On July 27, 2017, Les Prés d'Eugénie became the 24th Palace in France. This subtle distinction rewards hotels that combine exceptional characteristics in terms of their geographical location, their particular historical, aesthetic, or heritage interest, as well as the excellence of the services offered. Today the family runs Les Prés d'Eugénie with passion and playfulness, and thanks to a loyal team of 180 "virtuosos" in the Art of hospitality.
