Mount Juliet Estate draws on several periods of local Irish history to weave a rich tapestry of emotional experiences for every guest. It has the magnificence of its Georgian Manor House and Hunter's yard. With the finest contemporary comforts, state-of-the-art facilities, and breathtaking surroundings imaginable, this historical grandeur lets you have beautiful experiences.
The earliest Earl of Carrick built this hotel. It is named after the Earl's much-loved wife, Lady Julianna Butler. Later, the Estate preserved its deep-seated historical traditions. This was while also providing contemporary comforts and facilities to the guests.
Guests can experience luxurious accommodation in the magnificent Georgian Manor House or Hunter's yard. They can also dine in the Michelin-starred restaurant. Moreover, the Estate also offers golf, fishing, a fitness center, and a spa. The staff is friendly and modest with a touch of Irish informality.
Mount Juliet Estate also provides room service, free and fast Wi-Fi, and a pool to its guests. There is also a tennis court, parking, and laundry services.
The hotel sits amid 500 acres of green Kilkenny countryside on a ridge overlooking the River Nore. It is just a 10-minute drive from the M9 and a 90-minute drive from Dublin City and Airport. Moreover, Kilkenny city is about a 20-minutes drive away and is full of history, architecture, and shopping delights. The hotel's surroundings are full of sweeping views. It has seduced and thrilled guests in countless years since its erection.
The interior of the hotel has authentic and beautiful art. The magnificent Manor House has stucco ceilings and glittering chandeliers. Moreover, the surroundings of the hotel have picturesque gardens and pastoral serenity.
In 1757, the soon-to-be the first Earl of Carrick, Hamilton Butler, and his bride-to-be set about developing a working estate. Land on both sides of the river was connected through an eight-arched stone bridge. They built the Manor House on a ridge overlooking the river.
The name Mount Juliet was decided on the name of his wife. In 1914, Mount Juliet purchased the Mount Juliet. Today, the same devotion of previous owners channels into every element of the Estate.
The two residences in the Mount Juliet Estate offer rooms with the grandeur of history and comforts of the modern age.
The Manor House: The first Earl of Carrick and his wife Juliet made The Manor House their first home in 1750. It is regarded as the beating heart of the Estate and has been preserved and updated for the present day. There are 32 unique bedrooms in the Manor House. All of them are large and have expansive windows, fabrics, wallpapers, and beautiful bed linens. The Lodges also have two bedrooms and a sitting room.
Hunter's Yard: Taking the inspiration from the Manor House, the Hunter's Yard channeled them into a new type of residence. There are 93 rooms that offer a luxurious habitat. Each room features modern amenities and furnishings wrapped up in an airy and light ambiance.
Mount Juliet Estate features a diverse range of dining choices. Guests can dine in the Lady Hellen restaurant or The Hound restaurant. In addition, you will find drinks and snacks in the Major's bar and The Saddle Bar. The restaurants also offer classic dishes executed with creative flourish and flavors.
This Michelin-starred restaurant maintains the standards set by the former owner of Mount Juliet, Lady Helen McCalmont. Moreover, the atmosphere complements the views over River Nore's pastures. The restaurant's menu includes dishes prepared by using local ingredients.
These local ingredients come from Mount Juliet's kitchen garden, herb garden, and farm. The restaurant also serves Local Goatsbridge trout and Irish lamb with considerable style. Moreover, guests can enjoy Cinnamon-dusted French toasts at breakfast.
It is in Hunter's yard and offers informal dining. In addition, the restaurant offers a commanding view of Jack Nicklaus's designed golf course. It is also ideal for unwinding with friends or family.
The Major's Bar is named after Major-General Sir Hugh McCalmont and Major Dermot McCalmont. It preserved its period as the Estate's custodians in the form of magnificent furnishing and quality of drinks. Additionally, the afternoon tea at The Major's Bar has a menu of finger sandwiches, jams, and home-cooked scones. They also serve macarons, cakes, and their signature beverages at the bar.
Additionally, the hotel has The Saddle Bar. It features more contemporary surroundings and a galaxy of Irish whiskies.
This bar is named after the golf course designer Mr. Jack Nicklaus. It is a perfect place to relax on a leather chair while watching sports on TV and drinking beverages. A varied menu from the Mount Juliet Estate's Executive Chef is also available at the Jack's Bar.
Jack Nicklaus designed a golf course that draws the attention of the guests. It sits across 180 acres of the Irish countryside. The course combines sensational natural beauty with magnificent trees, a rushing river, and verdant pastures.
It is one of the world's premium parkland courses and has hosted several remarkable tournaments. The course also hosted a Tiger Wood-winning Championship in 2002. Moreover, the Golfer's Guide to Ireland voted it as Ireland's Best Parkland Golf Course.
There is an incredible range of facilities and activities at Mount Juliet Estate. It offers a spa, swimming pool, gym, golf course, and an equestrian center. Moreover, the Estate provides several outdoor activities. These include fishing in River Nore, falconry, and archery.
