Rosewood Hotel Georgia is a legendary place that opened back in 1927 and is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver on Georgia Street. It quickly gained the reputation of the best hotel in Vancouver and the city's fashionable retreat. Moreover, being one of the most prominent hotels worldwide, it has played host to the rich and famous over the years.
Its past patrons include famous names like John and Ethel Barrymore, Errol Flynn, John Wayne, and Marlene Dietrich. In addition, Sir Laurence Olivier, Gary Cooper, the Beatles, Katharine Hepburn, the Rolling Stones, and Frank Sinatra stayed here.
This place ticks all the right boxes for safety, comfort, and luxury. Tourists visiting Vancouver prefer staying at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia because of its prime location.
The Rosewood Hotel Georgia is from the Vancouver Art Gallery, the unofficial city center. At the corner of Georgia and Howe Street, the resort offers a favorable location for leisure and business travelers in downtown Vancouver.
The famous Stanley Park is also within walking distance, along with many boutiques, theaters, art galleries, and museums. The sea wall and some of the best restaurants in Vancouver are also nearby. The Skytrain stop is just around the corner, and the Vancouver International Airport is a 30-minute drive away.
The hotel made its debut back in the late 1920s as Hotel Georgia. Its unheard luxuries quickly shot to fame and brought attention to the young city and Canada's West Coast. And it's not only the local social set; many international personalities also made it the heart of Vancouver. But, unfortunately, it lost its grandeur around the 1970s and became a shadow of its original glamorous self.
In 2007, an international group – the Rosewood Hotels and Resorts – acquired and closed it for a five-year renovation. They preserved its old-world feel and gave it a touch of modern sophistication with the latest technology and luxurious furnishing.
As soon as it reopened in 2011, it quickly grabbed its place back on the best hotels list with its unmatched combination of legacy and luxury.
The hotel is a 12-story structure. The site is a cultural heritage in Canada. Architects Robert T. Garrow and John Graham, Sr originally designed it in the "Georgian Revival" style that emphasizes proportion, scale, and symmetry.
Furthermore, it features Italian marble floors, a high ceiling, wood paneling, sweeping staircases, deep molding, and a stylish clock. During the renovation, the gilding was minimized to complement the mahogany paneling. But they let the fireplace, ornate elevator metalwork, 1927 lobby lounge, and beautiful stair railings stay to keep the vintage feel alive.
The hotel offers 156 rooms and suites. All of these feature a contemporary décor against their historical backdrop. Let's have a look at the different accommodations it provides.
There is a collection of Superior Rooms that measure around 397 Sq. Ft each. These rooms offer serene views of the inner courtyard or downtown. They also have a full bathroom with a king-sized bed or double bed.
Another category of rooms features the deluxe rooms, slightly bigger than the superior rooms and have an area of 466 sq. Ft in size. These rooms offer dynamic cityscape views. They also feature urban décor with a king-sized bed or double beds with a spa-inspired bathroom.
The category of premier executive features rooms that measure 500 Sq. Ft. They have ample space with a living area, king-sized and a rollaway beds, and a luxurious soaking bathtub. Junior suites at the Rosewood Georgia also feature elegant living spaces and a spacious parlor area. These rooms measure 640 sqft with walking showers and are among the hotel's most preferred accommodation options.
Executive one-bedroom suites also attract guests' attention, measuring over 874 sq. Ft. These suites offer expansive space with a luxurious, well-furnished living room and dining area with room service. They also feature one king and rollaway bed with one full and one guest bathroom with heated floors.
Other living options at the Rosewood Hotel Georgia include Lord Stanley Suite and the exclusive Rosewood Suite. The Lord Stanley suite features a magnificent two-bedroom accommodation with a private rooftop terrace, plunge pool, and a grand fireplace. The Rosewood Suite, on the other hand, is Vancouver's finest suite. It has two or three bedrooms, a plunge pool, a fireplace, and a rooftop garden terrace.
Staying true to its fame, Rosewood Hotel Georgia offers its esteemed guests a wide range of amenities. These include a heated indoor saltwater lap pool on the fourth floor. In addition, this high-ceiling space is bathed in natural sunlight radiating from the adjacent rooftop. Here the guests can enjoy a warm dip or a refreshing splash.
Another luxury facility that enhances guests' experience is the intimate and elegant Sense a Rosewood Spa. Here the guests receive a full range of treatments. These include facials, massages, and therapies from highly-trained and experienced staff.
Moreover, the fitness center facility takes the luxury experience to an entirely new level. The fitness center features a separate mirrored area for stretching and yoga.
