Americans Lee and Penny Anderson developed a love for Croatia and the country's welcoming culture, creative cuisine, and extraordinary wines when visiting on a humanitarian mission.

Years later, they purchased the well-known "Rivijera" hotel in the town of Orebic on the shore of the Adriatic coast. Finally, after almost a decade of planning, architectural design, and construction, Villa Korta Katarina & Winery opened its doors to the first guests in December 2018.

The Owners

Americans Lee and Penny Anderson have a deep and enduring love for exceptional wine and cuisine and an equally abiding appreciation for outstanding service. Having traveled to post-war Croatia with a humanitarian organization in 2001 to provide aid to the people of Bosnia-Herzegovina, they later decided to merge these two passions in the founding of Korta Katarina.

Today, one of their greatest joys is welcoming like-minded wine connoisseurs, gastronomes, and adventurers from around the world to the exclusive oasis they've created on the Adriatic coast and onto the exquisite luxury yacht that navigates her waters.

A Magical Location

Orebic has a long and rich maritime history. Over the centuries, this relatively small village has been home to numerous wealthy sea captains. And after sailing the high seas, these captains constructed their mansions and villas throughout the town.

Villa Korta Katarina & Winery traces its origins back to this naval history, and an extensive renovation has brought a new shine to this elegant property. Rising proudly above the Adriatic coastline, Villa Korta Katarina & Winery, Relais & Châteaux member, is located in the picturesque seaside town of Orebic on the delightful Pelješac Peninsular. While it is easily accessed from Dubrovnik, the Villa is also wonderfully removed from the frenetic tourist activity of the city.

The Korta Katarina vineyards have painstakingly created seven private label wines that started as a labor of love and quickly became award-winning - from full-bodied reds to light summery whites and even sparkling wine, having respected the knowledge of past generations and added a touch of passion and modern know-how to produce a complete range of superb vintages. The pungent earthy Plavac Mali is a Red to accompany a good meal, the delicate Pošip to refresh you after a day exploring the region.
