Comprised of eight national monuments-turned-townhomes, the Widder Hotel Zurich sits in the heart of Zurich. Medieval touches pair effortlessly with modern chic at this Swiss luxury hotel designed by renowned architect Tilla Theus. Moreover, the ideal location puts guests steps away from shopping and sightseeing. The Widder Hotel Zurich comprises 49 individually designed rooms with luxurious amenities and fine dining that will make your stay here unforgettable.
The Hotel Zurich's location is ideal for business and leisure travelers alike. Guests staying at the resort will be only a few steps away from Bahnhofstrasse's iconic shopping district. Additionally, there is plenty of exploring in the historic Augustiner Quarter, including Grossmunster and the panoramic Lindenhof Park. The train station, as is the city's financial district, is a short walk away.
Home to 35 guest rooms, each one has unique touches that highlight the historical importance of the building. Rooms are all over the eight fully-restored townhouses. Furthermore, all rooms include air conditioning units, internet access, and a minibar. Large bathtubs, showers, Nespresso machines, and Bang & Olufsen TVs exist.
Are you worried that the hotel bed won't be as comfortable as the one you have at home? No worries, as all of the mattresses, are fully adjustable. Soothing reading lights will also help you wind down for the night. Besides, sensory lights will softly light your way from the bed to the bathroom if you can't hold it in the middle of the night.
Room options include the straightforward Design Single Room with a view overlooking the city. There are also the Design Queen Room and the Courtyard Queen Room, with a secluded view of the hotel's private courtyard and more contemporary design features. The Deluxe Double Room also has a king bed or two twins plus a view overlooking the city.
Junior Suites have two options - the Historic Junior Suite or the Duplex Junior Suite. The Historic Junior Suite has a king-sized bed (or two twins). Besides, it is beautifully finished with wood paneling, tile stoves, or seventeenth-century paintings.
The standard guest room amenities include a seating area and a large bathroom. The Duplex Junior Suite has two different design styles: cozy, rustic, or new-age urban. Whichever design you choose, you'll be getting the most elbow room in these two-story suites. Plus, there is a sofa bed and a king-sized bed or two twins.
Of the 14 suites available, the Widder Hotel has six full-suite options. The Courtyard Suite and Spa say it all in the name: quiet courtyard views and a separate spa attached to the bathroom make this option luxurious. The Family Suite is perfect for four guests. It has one private bedroom and a separate annex with additional beds. Alternatively, the Historic Suite is ideal for couples needing more elbow room and larger living space (complete with Le Corbusier sofas) to enjoy coffee or breakfast.
The Design Suite boasts an ultra-modern open floor plan, but the real highlight is the rooftop terrace. The Design Loft Suites don't all have a rooftop terrace. However, they come with a large soaking tub, a large shower, and plenty of furniture by Frank Lloyd Wright to relax throughout the Suite.
Moreover, the Penthouse Suite will give views of the city, the Alps, and the lake from its rooftop terrace. It also includes a full dining room, a living room with a fireplace, a Jacuzzi bathtub, and a guest bathroom.
Full suites come with extra perks as well. These include an ironing service, complimentary champagne, free souvenir, room-service breakfast, and VIP treatment. In addition, stays in the Penthouse Suite include complimentary transportation to and from the airport in one of the hotel's Mercedes.
Guests can always rely on good food being available at the Widder Hotel. First, there is the Restaurant - Boucherie August for a full menu at every meal. This casual French-inspired restaurant is part bistro and part brasserie and wholly delicious. Here, guests can enjoy regional favorites, and some will appreciate that meat plays a leading role on the menu. Guests can also enjoy their meals outside on the terrace during warmer months.
The star of the hotel, the Widder Restaurant, with 2 Michelin Stars, combines history with modernity, local and international, both in the menu and design of the open-kitchen restaurant. Open Wednesday-Sunday for dinner only. The menu here includes dishes such as free-range duck. You can also order Norwegian scallops and Australian Wagyu short ribs.
End (or begin) your night at the Widder Bar. Here, guests can enjoy a glass of wine and classic cocktails against live jazz music. Open from 11:30 am. Guests can also stop at the bar for a quick lunch or a coffee. Moreover, partake in the hotel's Afternoon Tea Time here.
Another favorite spot, Zur Schtund, offers street-style food by the same Michelin-starred chef, Chef Stefan Heileman. It specializes in quick, on-the-go menu items such as pork belly bun and sweet potato fries. Zur Schtund is perfect for guests rushing to a business meeting, shopping, and sightseeing.
The Widder Hotel boasts a state-of-the-art spa offering treatments that can be tailored to your specific needs. Choose from a full range of massages, a body wrap, holistic facials, or a foot massage. There is also a gym onsite available to guests of the hotel 24/7. The fitness center boasts Technogym equipment that will be just what you need during your stay. Or, you can schedule a session with one of the hotel's personal trainers.
Free high-speed wi-fi comes standard in every room. In addition, a business center is available, as well as an onsite parking garage. In addition to the gym and spa, the hotel also boasts its library. Room service, too, is available to all guests. Rooms also have bathrobes and Widder-branded bath essentials (including a soothing foot cream).
By staying at the Widder Hotel, guests enjoy a complimentary Guest Card, giving them access to city activities. Additionally, you can ride on the hotel boat and explore many shops and restaurants along the water. Because of the hotel's location, guests can quickly and easily explore the many restaurants, boutiques, and bars that decorate this historic district. There is also a beautiful lake nearby and river pools for guests to explore.
The historic buildings of the Widder Hotel guarantee a unique experience – modern design embedded with medieval touches. The fine dining onsite and nearby, combined with the plethora of boutiques and the area's natural beauty, will satisfy you completely.
